IRELAND: Markets & Research announces apparel trends for 07

DUBLIN: Research and Markets has announced apparel industry's Top seven mega trends which are expected to play a major role in consumer purchase and how brands retailers and manufacturers respond to this consumer behaviour.

The current signals show larger changes in direction in the market.

Many fads come and go but there is a certain reason behind a fad. While some last longer some of them fade out very fast.

In 2006 it was noted that consumers have become smart and they shop better. The discount schemes attract consumers and brands, designers and retailers will continue with it. Some brands provide more options to the consumers. There is huge scope for the plus size market and it continuously growing. The one who uses the latest technology will be the winner. Consumers prefer luxury and are not bothered about the cost much for it. Line extensions are brand life support.

The trends for 2007 show that tween and teen markets are growing in size. If companies come out with new innovation then they are likely to do better than competitors. To get consumer traffic and loyalty it is necessary to learn from experience and customise. Many consumers now opt for online purchasing. Many consumers expect eco friendly apparels. Private label's brands make headway in product mixes.

China will reamin the biggest player in all areas of apparel.
