SRI LANKA: Intimate wear group Mas Intimates awarded SAP ACE 2007

COLOMBO: The intimate wear group MAS Intimates, a division of Sri Lanka's MAS Holdings specializing in lingerie, has won a top award by the enterprise resources software maker SAP for the deployment and use of its technology, the group said. MAS Intimates was awarded the SAP Awards for Customer Excellence, or SAP ACE 2007, in the best textiles and apparel sector implementation in large enterprises this month.
 
Operating 28 manufacturing facilities worldwide, MAS offers design services through studios in the UK and Hong Kong, backed by a fully integrated raw material supply chain. The company is the first in the region to use the SAP R3 Apparel and Footwear system and was the first company to launch a global SAP Consulting firm, focusing entirely on the apparel and footwear industry.

"SAP ACE recognizes the best leveraging of a SAP solution to manage and drive the business, while supporting strategic decision making, business transformation and managing growth," MAS said.

The awards are expected to strengthen SAP customer partnerships in the Indian subcontinent and insights gained during the evaluation process will be used to create better products and services in the future.

“This is a validation of our commitment to information technology as a key driver of business value addition," MAS Intimates managing director Dian Gomes said in a statement. "We are excelling in all spheres of our business to provide our customers superior service” he added.

MAS Intimates said that it has changed its business model moving from a product centric organization to one that is customer centric from 2004. MAS Intimates SAP team had launched a new project to reorient the information infrastructure to facilitate this change of focus.

"This included an organizational culture change towards information orientation with employees at all levels working seamlessly on information generated on SAP," MAS said. MAS have re-aligned their IT policy to meet the needs of a fast evolving business in close alliance with customers and suppliers.

“It is our goal to facilitate interaction and information sharing at any point in time with all parties involved," Chief Information Officer at MAS Holdings, Jay Keller said. "For us, the process starts with the idea for a product and ends with the sales of the product to the final customer” he concluded.
