UNITED STATES: Mixed Baby Greens Introduces Organic Children's Clothing and Accessory

The newly harvested crop includes organic cotton t-shirts with edgy graphics produced with non-PVC screen printing, receiving blankets created from Harmony Art organic cotton, knotted hats, and bamboo terry cloth hooded towels and wash cloths. Natural organic cotton fabrics achieve their delicious colors through an environmentally friendly, low-impact dye process.
   
Organic cotton is especially important for babies and children as they are more sensitive in general, and their systems are more susceptible -- due to their high metabolisms and low body weights -- to the health risks associated with chemicals and pesticides. "Chemicals are all too often showing up in ground water, tap water, toys, etc. Increasingly, children are affected with allergies, skin conditions, asthma and a variety of ailments. I don't think it's a stretch to recognize a correlation," noted Carey Hill. "I'd rather offer an alternative and be safe rather than sorry."

The reality is that It takes about 1/3 of a pound of chemicals (pesticides and fertilizers) to grow enough cotton to make one t-shirt. Although conventional cotton comprises only 3% of the world's farmland, cotton uses approximately 25% of the world's insecticides and more than 10% of the pesticides.
