HONG KONG: Fashion Buyers to Get Styles to Market Faster with Sourcing

Twelve international buyers including Auchan, Metro and Polo Ralph Lauren are now able to get new children's fashions to market faster through their participation in Global Sources' Private Sourcing Events, covering Baby & Children's Apparel & Footwear and Summer Garments & Fabrics. Both events are scheduled to be held in Wuxi and take place on Aug. 13 and 14, respectively.

Representing US$213 billion in annual sales, buyers scheduled to participate in the Baby & Children's Apparel & Footwear event are:

  * Caben -- A wholesale trading company and Hong Kong subsidiary of
    Italian corporation, Artsana S.p.A.
  * Casino -- France's largest convenience store operator
  * Kmart Australia -- One of Australia's largest discount chains
  * Metro -- The world's fifth-largest retailer
  * Polo Ralph Lauren -- One of the world's top fashion brands
  * Otto International China -- Part of the Otto Group, a leading
    international trading organization
  * Woolworths UK -- One of the UK's largest retailers of home, family
    and entertainment products


Buyers with combined annual sales of US$157 billion scheduled to participate in the Summer Garments & Fabrics event are Casino, C&A, Decathlon, Metro, Otto International China, QVC and Spotlight.

One participating buyer, Otto International China's Sourcing & Audit Manager, Vincent Sung, said: "We need to continuously update each of our product lines. To do that, we need to constantly look for new quality suppliers with new designs. Private Sourcing Events help us do that by delivering pre-screened suppliers capable of meeting our high quality standards with competitive pricing."

One supplier, General Manager of Jiangyin Xinjiamei Clothing Co. Ltd., Wu Yinzhi, said: "Private Sourcing Events maximize the exposure we get to buyers through Global Sources' website, trade shows and magazines. While online and print are great for lead generation and branding, face-to-face events like these give us the chance to go straight to negotiations and closing orders."

World's Top Buyers Scheduled to Attend Upcoming Private Sourcing Events

Eighty Private Sourcing Events are scheduled for 2008, with dozens of buyers including Best Buy, Carrefour, Circuit City and Lowe's confirmed to participate. All Private Sourcing Events are complimentary for buyers and only Global Sources suppliers are eligible to participate.
