Just in time for Christmas a new website premiers featuring fine apparel from Ireland and the UK. "Another Irish sweater store," you say?
Not exactly. While you will find very finely crafted hand-woven and hand-loomed knitwear in cashmere and sheep's wool for men women and children, the site is also a showcase for Ireland's growing fashion industry.
"It seems there will always be a place for the amazing tradition of heirloom-quality knitted and woven clothing for which Ireland is known and loved," says pog apparel founder, Vernon Thornblad. "But today's Irish fashion scene is about much more. It is our mission to offer Americans for the first time, the full range of Irish apparel and accessories."
Chic, limited edition tops, skirts, dresses and jackets for women. Dressy, on-trend shoes. A variety of very hip and retro bangles, a line of lighthearted daisy pendant necklaces and earrings in gold and silver. And for young children, a funky line of hand-knit sweater and hat sets. "We have items for as little as $18.00 and as much as $650," says Mr. Thornblad. "In a down economy, it's difficult to predict how we'll do this first season. But we've done our best to price our offering so that those who wish to purchase very high quality apparel for themselves or as a gift can do so.
