SINGAPORE: Lanasol Dyes —Getting The Most Out Of Wool
SINGAPORE – Recently conducted industrial scale tests prove that Huntsman Textile Effects’
sustainable LANASOL® CE dye range outclasses traditional chrome dyeing for wool across the board. Chrome dyes, which used to be the standard for wool dyeing, have been subject to scrutiny because of the use of heavy- metal mordants which are potentially detrimental to human health and the environment. However, the change must be backed by clear economic or quality benefits. These concerns have now been clearly laid to rest as LANASOL® CE dye range achieve the same shades and same high fastness ratings as chrome dyes and in addition they inhibit chemical damage during dyeing and preserve the qualities of the ecru fiber.
One of the largest worsted mills in the world compared their chrome process with Huntsman’s LANASOL® dyeing process. 2 tons of wool were split, one half was dyed with Chrome Black and the other half was dyed with LANASOL® Black dyes. Both batches were spun with the same parameters. Throughout the processing data were collected at every step and compared in-house as well as by an independent institute.

expenditure
Fiber length after processing – Wool dyed with LANASOL® dyes produced far superior average fiber
length for finer high quality yarns
Significant savings in spinning – thanks to higher quality yarns, wool dyed with LANASOL® dyes is less
fragile, produces less waste and greater machine efficiency. In short, more efficient production from fiber
to fabric for higher profits.
