UNITED STATES: Shawn Johnson and Misty May Treanor at Local Sports Apparel Retailer

Hillsboro, Ore. – Specialty female athletic apparel, equipment and accessories retailer, Aries Apparel, announced Olympic gold medalists, gymnast Shawn Johnson and beach volleyball player Misty May Treanor will appear at the store November 1, 2011.

“We’re thrilled to bring two world-class female athletes and exceptional role-models to Aries Apparel,” said Diana Marsden, Aries Apparel owner. “Their passion for sport and positive energy resonates with our customers and their desire to motivate young female athletes in their sport is inspiring.”

Johnson, who is training for her second Olympic Games in London in 2012, competed on the U.S. Gymnastics Team in 2008 where she won a gold medal for balance beam. She also won silver medals for floor exercise and individual all-around in Beijing and the U.S. Gymnastics Team brought home silver in the team competition. In 2009 Johnson took a hiatus from gymnastics to compete as the youngest-ever contestant on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars;” she and dancing partner Mark Ballas won the season.

Treanor is a three-time Olympian; she finished fifth in Sydney in 2000, won gold in Athens in 2004 and brought home a second gold in Beijing in 2008. The American Volleyball Professionals named Treanor best offensive player seven consecutive years, best defensive player 11 consecutive years and most valuable player four consecutive years.

Locally owned and operated Aries Apparel is located at 1890 NW 188th Ave. in Hillsboro near the Streets of Tanasbourne.

About the appearance:

Aries Apparel customers who spend $25 or more between October 1 and 10 will receive a ticket to the appearance, as long as quantities last.  Aries Apparel will have additional VIP customer tickets. Quantities are limited.  

All ticketed guests will have the opportunity meet Johnson and Treanor and will receive either an autograph or picture with one of the Olympians. Aries Apparel will close at 5 p.m. November 1, 2011 for the appearance.
